Fourth Grade Beginner Band
Students rehearse period 1 on Tuesdays & Thursdays
Students in this class have been working on the following concepts:
1)Making a sound on the mouthpiece/ head joint (for flutes)/ Creating a good quality tone on their instrument.
2) Learning how to hold their instrument and or percussion sticks
3)Learning how to read, recognize and to be able to count, clap and play basic rhythms such as Quarter notes, Half notes, and Whole Notes.
4) Learning how to read their respective fingering charts
5) Learning how to apply the fingering charts to their instruments
6) Learning how to read the notes on their respective Staves (staff -Treble Clef or Bass Clef).
7)Concert Music-Students are studying the selections " North Point March" and " Mucho Mariachi" for the spring concert
** Students have practice logs that are due every two weeks. Students should be practice at a minimum of twenty - twenty five minutes every day for at least four or five days. A minimum of 85 minutes per week of practice time is required. Practicing less than this will not help the student reach enough progress on their instrument.
