Welcome to the Sixth Grade Chamber Wind Ensemble with Percussion
Students in this class are learning the following concepts:
1) How to make a sound on the mouthpiece/ head joint.
2) How to hold the percussion sticks properly.
3) How to hold the instruments properly.
4) How to sit with good posture- sitting up tall with backs away from chairs
5) How to read, count, recognize, clap and play basic rhythms including : quarter notes, half notes, whole notes, eighth notes and (sixteenth notes (for percussion only))
6)How to read and use the fingering charts
7)How to read letter names from a musical staff.
8) How to produce a full tone without squeaky sounds or without sounding airy.
9) For trumpet- how to produce a good buzzing sound
10) Studying one - two pieces for the Spring concert
-"Irish Jig For Young Feet" "Shenandoah" & "Home"
11) Students are learning how to listen to each other and be independent musicians in a chamber ensemble setting.
